Venezuelan Lady Caught with Cocaine at Entebbe Airport Uganda

A Venezuelan national Fernando Rodríguez was arrested at Entebbe international airport trying to smuggle cocaine/narcotics inside her belly. The 24 year old Venezuelan national was caught last Monday on the 18th of June 2018.

During the media briefing, Owoyesigire the spokesperson of Kampala metropolitan said they have been closely watching the convict as they got the intelligence information of the woman suspected to be smuggling cocaine who was traveling by Ethiopian airways flight number ET 507 from Sao Paulo Brazil, through Addis Ababa Ethiopia and then into Uganda.

When the Uganda police was alerted about the lady’s situation, they acted swiftly as soon as the she landed at Entebbe Airport. Owoyesigire narrated, “When we first carried the search, we could not find anything in her bags and then we carried out a bio-scan we found some foreign particles into her belly”.

“We decide to hold her custody from Monday to Friday where we had a close monitoring of her and she egested 114 pallets of suspected cocaine weighing 1,660 grams”.

The pallets were taken to the government analytical laboratory to confirm the cocaine substance before taking the suspect to the courts of law, according to the police spokesperson.

Fernando Rodríguez conceded that she was taking the drugs to Kenya where she was supposed to be paid $2000 for transportation during the police interrogation. Owoyesigire echoed that she will be charged with unlawful possession of narcotics and smuggling of drugs and the crimes hold a punishment of life imprisonment if found guilty.

She is still being held at the Entebbe aviation police where she will be transferred to court to hear her judgment.
