Former Kenya Attorney Tracks Gorillas

The first every Kenya attorney general Charles Njonjo tracked the mountain gorillas in Mgahinga gorilla park on the 19th January 2020.

The now 100 year old senior citizen of Kenya wanted to celebrate a century of years of existence in style and chose tracking the gorillas in Mgahinga national park located in the southern part of Uganda.

Last Sunday was seen being carried in the bamboo forests of Mgahinga national park by porters guiding him to the locales of the mountain gorillas.

Njonjo revealed that he is fond of Uganda because of the experience he had at Kings College Buddo, a secondary school in central Uganda. “I was very lucky to see the gorillas — two babies and two big bulls, (silverbacks)” Mr Njonjo confessed.

Njonjo was born 23rd of January 1920, he was the first Kenyan to be an attorney General after colonial rule from 1963-1979. He was then appointed the minister of constitutional affairs till 1983 from where he retired from active politics and became a nation advisor.

Charles is a pillar in the nation building of Kenya and very much respected worldwide because of his works, integrity and virtue.

Njonjo Charles tracking of the gorillas adds to a list of profile names in the world who have engaged in the exhilarating experience.

Gorilla trekking is one of the most pulsating tourism activities in the world. Many travelers have relayed superlatives about the remarkable experience. The mountain gorillas are endangered species which are only found in three countries in the world (Uganda, Rwanda and Dr Congo) and Uganda having a half of the total population in the world. The mountain gorillas in Uganda are found Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga national park all located in the Kigezi region in the south of Uganda. Gorilla trekking is a foothold in promoting Uganda as a prime eco-tourism destination around the world.
