In the middle of this week 21st October 2020, the news broke out that a new gorilla was born in Kutu family found in Rushaga sector South of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

On the 21st October 2020, a mother gorilla of Kutu Family was seen holding a very little gorilla, her arms wrapped around it in the tall tropical trees. The Kutu Family was consisting of 11 individuals and now 12. This family is found in Rushaga sector in the south of Bwindi impenetrable national park. Bwindi impenetrable national park is the grand home of mountain gorillas in the whole world as it boasts with almost a half of the total population of the gorillas.

We have seen the mountain gorillas adding to their little population in the recent times of the covid19 period. Over ten mother gorillas of different families across different sectors have been giving birth to baby gorillas. Many have come to say that gorillas thrive more without the presence of people. This has come as a result ever since gorilla tourism was put to halt due to the outbreak of covid19 a global pandemic, the gorillas have been producing from time to time.  This is such a great feat for the conservation world because the mountain gorillas are moving away from being critically endangered species.  Their numbers have been increasing of lately and now they are more than 1000 individuals in the whole world.

However, gorilla tourism cannot be stopped since it is one of the reason the gorillas are still in existence and increasing in numbers. Gorilla trekking or tourism has raised awareness of the presence and importance of mountain gorillas in the ecosystem hence conservation and preservation efforts and works being put in place.

It should also be noted that gorilla parks in Uganda are now open for tourism, anyone who wishes to engage in gorilla trekking experience is free to come and visit Bwindi impenetrable national park or Mgahinga national park the only homes of these huge primate species in Uganda.
