Internet and social media services have been restored in Uganda today, Wednesday 10th February 2021.
The internet shutdown imposed by the government on January 13th for alleged national security reasons has been fully lifted and hopefully normal business resumes.
Minister of State for Information, Communication Technology and National Guidance Peter Ogwang apologized for any inconveniences caused to anyone in a tweet on Wednesday saying “Internet and Social media services have been fully restored. We apologize for the inconveniences caused, but it was for the security of our country. Let’s be constructive, NOT destructive consumers/users of social media.”
Travelers in Uganda and those intending to come to Uganda are now able to communicate to their suppliers as well as friends and family back home on all the social media platforms.
